5 natural ways to get rid of dark circles

Dark discoloration of the skin under the eyes is known as dark circles, dark rings or shadows. Among the main causes that lead to the formation of dark circles are aging, prolonged crying, heredity, dry skin, mental/physical stress, working for a long period of time in front of the computer or lack of sleep.

They can affect both women and men of different ages. Still, they are not a serious disease, but they leave the impression that people are tired, exhausted and even older. The dark circles can be easily removed with the help of different home-made remedies.

  1. Almond oil

Almond oil is a very beneficial ingredient which helps the skin regain its beauty. Used with regularity, it contributes to the removal of under eye bags. You can also replace the almond oil with vitamin E oil as it has the same effect.

Remedy: Every night before going to sleep, apply under your eyes some almond oil, massage and leave it overnight. In the morning you should wash the area with cold water. It is recommended to repeat the remedy every day until you get the desired results.

  1. Cucumber

Cucumber has bleaching and astringent properties, refreshing and smoothing the skin.

Remedy: –     Slice a fresh cucumber and leave it cool in the refrigerator for about half an hour. Apply the slices onto the problem area for about 10 minutes, after which you need to wash gently. You should repeat the process daily for at least one week.

  • Mix equal quantities of cucumber and lemon juice. Apply the mixture obtained by using a cotton ball, then leave it on for about 15 minutes. Follow this treatment daily for at least one week.
  1. Raw potato

Potatoes have natural bleaching properties due to the agents that they contain.

Remedy: Extract the juice from one or two potatoes through the process of grating, then apply two cotton balls soaked into the juice on your eyes, making sure that it covers both the eyelids and the under eye bags. Wait for about 15 minutes then wash your eyes with cold water. Repeat the process every day for several weeks. If you want, you can also replace the cotton balls with slices of potato which you have to apply directly onto the skin.

  1. Rose water

Rose water has rejuvenating, soothing and astringent properties, leaving the skin smooth.

Remedy: apply some cotton balls, which you have soaked in rose water, on your eyes, leaving them on for 15 minutes. Repeat this remedy two times a day for several weeks.

  1. Tomato

Tomato is a great ingredient that helps your skin by lightening affected areas, in this case the dark circles under your eyes.

Remedy: –      Combine 1 tbsp of tomato juice and ½ tbsp of lemon juice and apply the mask where needed. Leave it on for about 10 minutes, then clean with warm water. Repeat the procedure two times a day for several weeks.

  • Prepare a juice with tomatoes, mint leaves, lemon juice and salt. Drink this fresh juice once or twice a day for at least one week, in order to obtain positive results.
